Man Utd transfer round-up: Rabiot reignites Premier League desire as PSV hike Gakpo price

Manchester United are being strongly linked with a number of players ahead of the January transfer window as Erik ten Hag looks to plug the gaps in his side.

The Red Devils signed Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in the summer but that hasn’t stopped them from looking at further midfield recruits, with links to Adrien Rabiot revived once more following his latest admission. Elsewhere, PSV Eindhoven are looking to price the Red Devils out of a move for Cody Gakpo as a result of his blistering World Cup form.

Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest transfer stories coming out of Old Trafford…

Rabiot reignites Premier League desire

France midfielder Rabiot has reiterated his desire to play in the Premier League as he prepares to enter the final six months of his contract with Juventus.

The Red Devils were strongly linked with a move for the Frenchman during the summer but a move failed to materialise as a result of his high wage demands. Nonetheless, a move could yet be on after he made the latest admission over his future.

As relayed by the Evening Standard, Rabiot said: “I have always said that I’d like to play in England in my career. Will it happen at the end of my career in Juventus? I don’t know. But yeah I still have that desire [to play in the Premier League]. I’d like to evolve in the Premier League.”

PSV hike Gakpo price tag

PSV have taken advantage of Gakpo’s blistering start to the campaign and his excellent form with the Netherlands at the World Cup by bumping up his price tag ahead of the January transfer window.

The forward already had 13 goals and 17 assists in 24 games for the Dutch outfit this season ahead of the World Cup in Qatar, where he has gone on to score three goals in four games to help Louis van Gaal’s side to reach the quarter-finals.

PSV had valued their star player at around €60m (£51.6m) before the World Cup, but Foot Mercato are now reporting that Man United will now have to pay an extra €15m on top of that as a result of his superb form in Qatar.

Chelsea eye shock Sancho swoop

Man United winger Jadon Sancho could be on the move sooner than expected following reports that Chelsea are eyeing a shock swoop for the 22-year-old.

The out-of-sorts forward has struggled to replicate his scintillating form with Borussia Dortmund since moving to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021, and although there were glimpses of a revival under Ten Hag in pre-season and the early stages of the current campaign, he is struggling to hold down a starting spot once more.

And according to Calciomercatoweb, the Blues are plotting a move to sign Sancho as a replacement for Christian Pulisic, with the report claiming that Todd Boehly will make a move for the 22-year-old once they offload the USA international.
