Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood has reportedly been warned his behaviour must improve after repeated breaches of discipline.
Greenwood, 19, was left out of United’s squad for their weekend win over Newcastle and their Champions League triumph over Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.
Solskjaer has publicly insisted that his absence was due to injury.
The Times claim Greenwood has also recently been warned multiple times regarding his conduct, including several instances of lateness.
Greenwood hit the headlines last month when he was sent home from England duty in disgrace.
He broke England’s biosecure bubble after two women visited the team hotel to visit him and Manchester City youngster Phil Foden.
The incident came after he made his international debut on the back of a stunning breakthrough campaign for United last season.
It is claimed Solskjaer intends to keep details of Greenwood’s ill-discipline in-house and will insist his absence is due to injury.
It is unclear how long he will be left out of the side.
Asked about rumours of indirections leading to his omission ahead of the PSG game, Solskjaer said: “I can’t declare medical stuff can I?
“We hope it’s just a niggle and we don’t want to take any chances with him and hopefully at the weekend it’ll be fine again.”
After his England shame, Greenwood said in a statement: “Playing for England was one of the proudest moments in my life and I only have myself to blame for this huge mistake.
“I promise my family, the fans, Manchester United and England that this is a lesson I will learn from.”
Solskjaer protected his player after that incident, stating: “I felt he’s [Greenwood] been really really good looking after himself, has built himself up, but that’s part of being at Man United.
“I’m not saying he didn’t make a mistake. Of course he’s made some mistakes, but it’s us — the grown-ups here as well. We need to make decisions that benefit him.”
