Man Utd takeover coming 'very soon' as Glazers ready to sell club in 'seismic moment'

Excitement is brewing among Manchester United fans after being told that a takeover of the club could be coming "very soon".

Current owners, the Glazer family, put the club up for sale last month after a statement released by the Red Devils confirmed United would be "exploring strategic opportunities", which did not rule out a full sale. The list of potential buyers makes for astonishing reading, with the likes of Apple, Amazon and Britain's richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe all linked with the role of the new owners.

News that the Glazer family were willing to sell was greeted with huge optimism from the United faithful, the majority of whom have wanted the American businessmen to cut ties with the club for quite some time.

David Ornstein of The Athletic has claimed the Glazers could sell very soon and that if they do part ways with one of the Premier League's most lucrative assets it would be a "seismic moment" in United's illustrious history.

It would mark the end of years of fan unrest and protests against the current ownership, with tensions between the Glazers and the supporters rising significantly after the botched attempt to form a breakaway European Super League in April of last year.

The Glazers have been at the United helm since 2005 when they secured the takeover as part of a leveraged buyout that means to this day the club are still saddled with £514.9million worth of debt.

The process of selling the club and seeking potential buyers is currently being overseen by the Raine Group, who have valued Erik ten Hag's side at somewhere between £6billion and £7bn.

It has been reported that the Raine Group are aiming to complete the sale by the first financial quarter of the new year, while owner Avram Glazer recently issued a rare update on United's goings-on.

The Red Devils co-owner was out in Qatar for the World Cup when he was pressed for comment on the situation at Old Trafford by a group of reporters.

It was during this time Glazer appeared to hint that there was a possibility they could U-turn and not sell, at least not entirely.

"It's not necessarily a sale," Glazer said to a member of the media in Qatar. "It's a process and we're going forward with the process, so we'll see what happens. I'm here to really watch the World Cup but I appreciate your interest. That's the update, it's the process and the process is proceeding."
