Man Utd suffer injury blow as Luke Shaw is 'ruled out for a month' with hamstring problem

Manchester United could be without Luke Shaw for a month after he developed a hamstring problem in the loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The England and United left back was substituted in the first half of the 2-1 defeat and now faces a spell on the sidelines.

Shaw won't recover from the injury for at least a month, according to talkSPORT , which would see him miss six crucial matches for the Red Devils.

United's next fixtures during that period are against Southampton , Leicester , West Ham , Arsenal , Liverpool and Norwich.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was initially hopeful the knock to Shaw was not too serious, and he would be able to play against the Saints.

Solskjaer said: "We will do the scans tomorrow, but he felt something in his hamstring.

"Hopefully he won't be too bad and will be back for Southampton."

But his hopes have since been dashed after Shaw's scans showed more severe damage than originally conceived.

United brought on Ashley Young as a replacement against Palace and it is likely he will deputise in Shaw's absence.

The prognosis would also mean Shaw would also be ruled out of England's first Euro 2020 qualifiers with Bulgaria and Kosovo next month.

Solskjaer has another issue in defence, as full-back Diogo Dalot is also unfit for duty.

The Norwegian boss said: "Diogo is injured, he’ll be out for a little while, hopefully he’ll be back for [the games] after the international break.

"He’s had a problem for a couple of weeks. But that’s it."

Meanwhile midfield star Fred has sent a message to the clubs fans amid rumours linking him with a move to Fiorentina.

The Brazilian showed no signs of the speculation playing on his mind in his post on social media.

"A blessed week to everyone," Fred said on his Instagram story. "Let's training," he added, followed by different emojis of a football, a love heart and praying hands.
