Man Utd's likely line up for Europa League final after double injury blow

Manchester United's line-up for the Europa League final is pretty much decided after Harry Maguire was effectively ruled out of the Villarreal clash.

Ole Gunnar Solskjear revealed that it's unlikely the club captain will recover in time for the trip to Gdansk on Wednesday.

Maguire suffered ankle ligament damage in United 's 3-1 win at Aston Villa a fortnight ago, while Anthony Martial, who hasn't featured since March 28 due to a knee injury, is definitely out of the showpiece.

The Old Trafford boss is prepared to Maguire a late chance to prove his fitness but is resigned to the fact it's a long shot.

He said: “He's walking but it's a long way from walking to running.

“To be honest, I don't think we'll see him Gdansk, no, but I'm going to give him until Tuesday night, the last training session, to be out there.

“Steadily but surely he's improving, but ligaments take time to heal.

“Anthony's not going to be available, but Scott [McTominay] and Fred should be okay.”

Maguire's likely absence means Solskjear's line-up on Wednesday is pretty much decided.

Victor Lindelof should partner Eric Bailly in defence, as a result, with Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka on either side and David de Gea in between the sticks as the keeper continues his cup run.

Scott McTominay and Fred have both shrugged off knocks and should protect the back four, with Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes ahead of them, supporting Edinson Cavani in attack.

Manchester United predicted XI vs Villarreal: de Gea, Lindelof, Bailly, Shaw, Wan-Bissaka, McTominay, Fred, Pogba, Rashford, Fernandes, Cavani.
