Man Utd's £50m transfer target admits he wants to play in the Premier League

Wales star David Brooks admits he's keen on a return to the Premier League - but is hoping to do so with current club Bournemouth.

The 23-year old was linked with a big money move to Manchester United in the summer, following the Cherries' relegation from the top flight last season, but a transfer never materialised.

Bournemouth, who saw a nine-match unbeaten run come to an end at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night, are firmly among the Championship's early pacesetters, with Brooks recently returning to the starting line-up following an ankle injury.

The winger, who was also briefly mentioned as a possible target for Leicester City, has now admitted he would like to return to the top flight of English football, and says he believes his time in the Premier League was cut short.

Speaking to The Echo he said: "I think being in the Premier League – I had a full season and then got injured. From my point of view, it was cut a bit short for myself.

"I was disappointed I couldn’t really factor in last year, so I am desperate to get back in the Premier League and hopefully it’s with Bournemouth.

"Everyone wants to be playing at the big, nice stadiums and on the big occasions hopefully, when the crowds are back in.

"We are all working towards that and, with the squad we’ve got, we’ve got a really good chance.

"I think if you asked any of the squad where we will be at the end of the year – I genuinely believe we will be going up and we will be in and around those one or two automatic spaces."
