Man Utd 'plotting £25m transfer bid' for PSV defender Denzel Dumfries

Manchester United are reportedly lining up a £25million bid for PSV right-back Denzel Dumfries.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to strengthen his backline this summer and has seemingly set his sights on the Dutch international.

The 23-year-old fits the mould of young, improving players Solskjaer is looking to sign as he bids to get United back to Europe's top table.

And he would come at a significantly lower price than Crystal Palace's Aaron Wan-Bissaka, another one of the Red Devils' targets, with the Londoners holding out for in excess of £50million, report The Sun.

Dumfries was part of the Netherlands side that beat England in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals in Portugal earlier this month.

He joined PSV last summer for around £5million from Heerenveen, the second move of his career after he had left hometown club Sparta Rotterdam 12 months earlier.

Further up the pitch at Old Trafford, Marcus Rashford is holding out for a staggering £300,000-a-week to stay at the club.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have shown interest in the England forward but United are desperate to keep him with Paul Pogba and David De Gea both linked with big-money exits this summer.

That puts Rashford, who has just one year left on his current deal, in a strong position - and he will hold out for a bumper new deal with wages at the club skewed by Chilean misfit Alexis Sanchez's mega salary.
