Man Utd players 'felt embarrassed at awards dinner event' after disappointing season

The Manchester United squad felt embarrassed attending their end of season awards event because of their disappointing campaign, according to reports.

The Red Devils stars all attended the glitzy dinner event at Old Trafford on Thursday where an array of awards were handed out to the players.

Left-back Luke Shaw scooped the top prize, winning Manchester United's Player of the Year award - also known as the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award.

Shaw was also named Players' Player of the Year, as voted for by his team-mates, while Mason Greenwood won the Young Player of the Year award.

Finally, Tahith Chong was named Reserve team Player of the Year, Andreas Pereira won the goal of the season award with his effort against Southampton and Katie Zelem won the Women's Player of the Year award.

According to the Daily Mail, the night wasn't as big a success as it appeared in the pictures, as players allegedly felt awkward about appearing at the celebratory event.
