Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replies to Jamie Carragher after MNF jibe

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hit back at Jamie Carragher for saying he is not up to managing Manchester United.

Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool defender Carragher claimed Solskjaer is not in the same league as fellow Premier League coaches Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel.

But Solskjaer, under pressure after just one win in his last five games, responded by saying he has the backing of the United hierarchy and that Carragher's opinion counts for nothing.

Asked about Carragher's remarks, Solskjaer said: “I prefer not to watch them. It doesn’t affect me, but of course you see some of the comments once in a while.

“I didn’t know what they were saying, but of course we’ve got Liverpool on Sunday as well, so Jamie is always looking at these little things.

“I’ve got my values, I’ve got my way of managing and I believe in myself.

“As long as the club believes in me, I’m pretty sure that Jamie Carragher’s opinion is not going to change that.”

United host Atalanta in the Champions League tonight, with Solskjaer acknowledging he is under pressure after an unconvincing start to the season.

“There’s pressure all the time, there’s pressure on me, of course,” said Solskjaer.

“But we’ve been through this before and come through it stronger as individuals and as a team.

“I’m just looking forward to the response and I’m in dialogue with the club all the time, and that’s an open and honest discussion all the time.”
