Man Utd duo Edinson Cavani and Eric Bailly 'demand answers' from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Edinson Cavani and Eric Bailly are both demanding answers from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about their Manchester United future.

The pair were on the bench for the 2-0 derby win at the weekend.

Both have played peripheral roles this season and want to know where they lie in the pecking order.

Solskjaer is understood to be keen on bringing in a defender and a forward in the summer.

That could have a knock on affect for Bailly and Cavani, with the former wanting "honesty" from the United boss.

The Ivorian has been at the club since 2016 but has been unable to nail down a regular role in defence.

He has been in and out of the starting XI with Solskjaer using him and Victor Lindelof as partners for Harry Maguire.

A dressing room source told the Sun: “Eric doesn’t feel he has any trust from Ole and he thinks that’s unfair.

“He wants the coach to have confidence in him and back him up but he feels he isn’t being protected at all and that hurts.”

Bailly has suffered with injury problems and will enter the final year of his contract at the end of the season.

Cavani meanwhile only signed a one-year deal when he arrived from PSG in the summer.

The striker has a £9m-year-contract with both parties able to trigger an extension.

Boca Juniors are keen on bringing the 34-year-old back to South America and a £3m-a-year offer has been discussed.

Cavani's impact has been hailed but he faces plenty of competition for a starting berth at Old Trafford and is conscious that a new addition could further hamper his playing time.

The Uruguayan has made 25 appearances this term, 13 of those as a starter, and scored on seven occasions.
