Man United 5-0 RB Leipzig: Super sub Marcus Rashford scores brilliant hat-trick in thrashing

Marcus Rashford came off the bench to score a terrific quick-fire hat-trick as Manchester United hammered RB Leipzig 5-0 in the Champions League at Old Trafford.

Rashford only replaced Donny van de Beek as a 68th minute substitute, but scored three times in 18 minutes on a terrific night for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

At the time of his introduction, the game was still in the balance, with United leading 1-0 thanks to Mason Greenwood’s first-half strike.

However, the 22-year-old soon put the Bundesliga leaders to the sword, scoring his first on 74 minutes as he sprung the offside trap from inside his own half, before striking again just four minutes later after getting the better of Dayot Upamecano.

The England forward passed up the chance to complete his hat-trick from the penalty spot soon after, instead allowing Anthony Martial to end his goal drought from twelve yards, but the Frenchman returned the favour in stoppage time, teeing up Rashford to thrash home his third and United’s fifth.

The result sees Solskjaer’s men seize control of Group H, three points clear of PSG, having beaten the Parisians in the first round of fixtures thanks to Rashford’s late winner.
