A man has tragically died after a house fire in Moylough, Co Galway, this morning.
Fire Services rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised at around 5am and put out the fire.
The body of a man, aged in his 60s, was found dead in the house.
His body remains at the scene which is being preserved for examination.
Gardai have said that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
It is understood that the man was living alone.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí attended the scene of a house fire in the Moylough area, Co. Galway in the early hours of this morning, Saturday 11th July 2020.
"The alarm was raised at approximately 5am.
"Fire Services attended the scene and extinguished the fire. The body of one male, aged in his 60s, was discovered deceased in the house.
"His body remains at the scene which is currently preserved for examination by local scene of crime officers. The local Coroner has been notified.
"Investigations are ongoing."
