Man tragically dies after being hit by train on Scots railway line

A man has died after being hit by a train on a Scots railway line.

We told how emergency services were called to the tragic incident, which took place between Arbroath and Dundee last night at around 8pm.

T he British Transport Police have now confirmed the man sadly died at the scene.

Officers say there are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

A spokesperson for the force said: "British Transport Police were called to Broughty railway station at 8.06pm yesterday (December 6) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the procurator fiscal."

Trains were axed between the two stations last night while investigations were launched.

A statement from Scotrail on Twitter last night said: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Arbroath and Dundee.

"While the emergency services attend, we can't run any trains through the area.

"You can use your tickets on the Stagecoach 73 & 73A buses between Dundee, Arbroath and all stations in between."

The line between Dundee and Arbroath reopened at around 10.30pm.
