Man to face court over fatal Lake Macquarie crash

A Jesmond man will face court next year over a fatal crash at Lake Macquarie last month.

The 38-year-old man was arrested at Waratah Police Station on Monday over a head-on crash at Ryhope.

Just before 7.30am on November 29 emergency services were called to Wakefield Road to reports a Toyota and a Hyundai had collided head-on, trapping both drivers.

The collision killed the 42-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the Hyundai.

On Monday, the 38-year-old man was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death - drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), and not keep left of dividing line.

The Jesmond man was granted conditional bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on February 4 next year.
