Man threatens driver and asks him to buy alcohol in bizarre carjacking in Co Galway

A man has been arrested after a terrifying carjacking in Co Galway.

The incident happened at around 11.30am on Sunday in the Beal Srutha area of the city.

A young man reported that he was sitting in his car outside a shop when a man forced his way into the vehicle.

He then threatened the motorist and forced him to drive a short distance before demanding the young man leave the vehicle with him to buy alcohol.

At this point, the driver managed to escape from the scene.

He received no injuries during the terrifying ordeal.

And after an investigation, gardai have arrested and charged a man in his 20s in relation to the incident.

He is due to appear before Galway District Court, Court 2 today, May 4, at approximately 12pm.
