Man suffers serious injuries after being hit by a car in Bolton

A man has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in Bolton.

Wigan Road was taped off following the crash shortly before 5.30am this morning (Thursday, February 13).

Police vehicles and an ambulance rushed to the scene and a 47-year-old man was taken to hospital.

A grey Nissan could be seen parked in the middle of the road with its hazard lights turned on (MEN)

The driver remained at the scene to speak with officers and no arrests have been made.

The road, which is one of the main routes into Bolton town centre, was taped off between Bankfield Street and the Esso petrol garage.

Diversions were put in place for drivers.

The road reopened shortly before 8am.

GMP say enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
