Man stood in the street covered in blood after 'serious incident'

A man was seen standing in the middle of a street covered in blood after a 'serious incident'.

Merseyside Police officers have been in attendance on Pennington Street in Walton since Sunday, June 4. They were called to the road following reports of an assault in the area. A police cordon was put in place on the road following the incident, with people inside the cordon not being able to return home.

Eyewitnesses claim they heard shouting from Pennington Street between 8.30pm and 9pm on the night before seeing a "man covered in blood" standing with a woman in the road. The North West Ambulance Service was also called to the scene and remained there for a short period of time.

The eyewitness, who asked not to be named, said: "It must have been about 8.30pm or 9pm and I heard this shouting from the street. I looked out and saw a man covered in blood and another man way running away, he was naked.

"They were shouting at each other and a woman was there too. The police were called and an ambulance was just up there [Stuart Street] for about three hours.

"They wouldn't let anybody into their homes in the cordon. All police were saying was it's a serious incident."

The mum added that seeing police in the area was a common occurrence and she thought it was sad to see.

She told the ECHO: "It's really sad whatever has happened, and worse that seeing police around here is now normal. You used to see one police car and it would be a shock and you would wonder what was going on, but now it's just the normal."
