Man stabbed near Bristol city centre as police cordon off scene

Police are appealing for information after a man was stabbed in an attempted robbery.

A 35-year-old man is believed to have been attacked in Ashley Road, Montpelier, at about 2am today (October 21).

He then made his way to Dove Street, Kingsdown, where paramedics treated him.

An Avon and Somerset police spokeswoman said: "He was taken to hospital for treatment to wounds not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

"The victim has given an initial statement describing his attacker as a man of mixed race appearance, about 5ft 6ins tall and stocky."

Police investigations continue at the scene, with the steps linking Dove Street and Dove Street South taped off.

Anyone with information which could help the inquiry is asked to get in touch through www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact, or by calling 101, quoting reference 5219243289.

Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. They never ask your name or trace your call.
