Naked cyclist spotted with woman in Northumberland was taking part in 'charity bike ride', say police

Police have confirmed a man spotted cycling naked through a Northumberland town with a clothed woman was 'taking part in a charity bike ride.'

A naked man and a clothed woman were seen on a tandem bike cycling through Bedlington on Tuesday morning. After police intervention, officers have now confirmed they were doing it for charity and not for any other reason.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm we received a call about a man and woman cycling through Amble and that the man was not wearing any clothes.

“The cyclists were spoken to and it was established the pair were taking part in a charity bike ride.”

According to social media, the naked man was wearing a helmet.

The pair were also spotted in the Yarm area of Teesside. They were then later seen leaving Eaglescliffe at the Kingsmead roundabout at around 11.30 am.

After a long bike ride, they were finally sighted around the Stillington and Bishopton areas of Stockton. Many witnesses took to the Yarm - The Town Facebook group to have a good-natured jest about the unusual sighting, with users tagging their friends and posting pictures and videos in the comment section.
