A man was fatally shot and a woman wounded Thursday in the West Side Austin neighborhood, according to police.
They were walking in the 5400 block of West Monroe Street about 2:45 p.m. when a gunman approached them and fired shots, Chicago police said.
A 30-year-old man was struck in the head, neck and leg, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman, 19, was grazed on her head and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, police said. Her condition was stabilized.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released details about the death.
Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
