A 20-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday in West Garfield Park, according to police.

He was shot once in his chest about noon in the 3800 block of West Adams Street, according to preliminary information from Chicago police. Multiple shooters allegedly ran from the scene.

Paramedics took the man to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

His name has not been released by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Area Four detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.

In September 2019, a man allegedly fired shots at police officers in the same block.

On Sunday, in another West Garfield Park shooting, officers responded for three people shot, including a teen, in the 100 block of North Keeler Avenue.

The CPD’s 11th District, which encompasses West Garfield Park, has recorded more than 215 shootings this year through July 19, according to police statistics. Shootings have increased 37% compared to 2019, according to the data.
