A man was shot during a robbery Friday in Englewood on the South Side.

The 38-year-old was standing in a vacant lot with a female companion about 7 p.m. in the 6700 block of South May Street when two males approached and fired shots, according to Chicago police.

The suspects took a pair of gym shoes the man had in a bag before running away, police said.

The man’s friend drove him to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he is listed in critical condition, police said.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.
