Man shaken after 'nasty' attack with metal pole in Nottinghamshire town

Detectives have launched an appeal following a "nasty" attack on a man with a metal pole. Following reports of a disturbance, officers were called to Skegby Road, in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, shortly after 5.40pm on Tuesday, November 8.

The victim was taken to hospital after reportedly being hit with a pole to the shoulder. The suspect reportedly then fled the scene before officers arrived.

The man is described as being in their 20s and white, while they were wearing a dark blue hoodie and dark trousers. While the injuries sustained are not thought to be life-altering, he and his family were "shaken" by the incident.

Anyone with any information or CCTV footage is being urged to come forward and speak to officers. Detective Sergeant Matt Scott, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a nasty attack on the victim and we do believe others in the area may have seen what happened and the person responsible.

“Thankfully the victim is not thought to have suffered any life-altering injuries but he and his family have no doubt been left shaken by the incident. We understand the impact of an incident like this on the victim and their families so will always do everything in our power to find those responsible.

“I want to ask anyone who may have any information on what happened, saw anything, or was in the area at the time to get in touch with us.” Anyone with any information or CCTV footage is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 530 of 8 November 2022, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
