Man seen 'stealing parcels from homes' in Downend

A man allegedly took scrap metal and parcels from people's properties in Downend.

South Gloucestershire Councillor Katie Cooper reported the incident to police after it happened on Overndale Road at 2pm on July 9.

The Labour councillor for Staple Hill and Mangotsfield posted on Facebook: "They are taking metal etc. from gardens but they are also stealing parcels."

An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said: "We were called after a member of the public became concerned about a man acting suspiciously.

"He had a parcel up his T-shirt. The man was also seen to be taking items from people's front gardens, like scrap metal. We recorded it as suspicious."

"If anyone has seen anything that didn't look right in that area at the time, they can call 101 quoting incident number 594 of July 9."
