Man 'scalped' in vicious knife attack in street outside gym

A street has been sealed off by police after a man was 'scalped' in Dukinfield.

Police were called to Birch Lane at around 7.15pm on Wednesday.

A man is receiving medical treatment after being assaulted, a GMP spokesman said.

Gruesome pictures from the scene showed a scalp in the road.

The M.E.N. understands the victim was 'scalped'.

His condition is not thought to be life threatening.

It's understood that the incident happened in the car park of a gym, Active iTRAIN.

A GMP spokesman told the M.E.N: "At 19.15 we responded to reports of an assault on Birch Lane in Dukinfield.

"Officers attended and established that an adult male had been assaulted. He is now receiving treatment."

Birch Lane was cordoned off by police (ASP)

A police investigation is underway.

Greater Manchester Police were poised to release more details about the investigation later today.

A member of staff at Active iTRAIN declined to comment.
