Man's body found in Glasgow's River Kelvin as police swoop on popular beauty spot

A man has been found dead in the River Kelvin in Glasgow.

Police raced to the popular beauty spot after receiving reports of a body being found in the water near Great Western Road at roughly 12.15pm today.

Authorities have since cordoned off the area, with entrances to the the city's Botanic Gardens and the Kelvin Walkway also closed.

Several police vehicles are currently in attendance and enquiries are ongoing.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Following a report received around 12.15pm on Thursday, 13 April 2023, the body of a man was discovered in the water at the River Kelvin in the Great Western Road area of Glasgow.

“Officers are in attendance and enquiries are ongoing.”
