Man rushed to hospital with serious injuries after midnight crash in Leigh

A man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in Leigh .

Emergency services were called to Crankwood Road at about 12.10am this morning (December 27) following reports of the smash, involving one vehicle.

A man in his 40s suffered serious injuries to the face and chest and was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Following the crash, the road was sealed off in both directions for more than three hours.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We were called to Crankwood Road at 12.10am following reports of a collision involving one car.

"A man in his 40s was taken to hospital."

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service added: "We were called to reports of a collision shortly before 12.10am.

"We treated one patient for serious injuries to the face and chest areas.

"A male in his 40s was taken to hospital."
