Man rushed to hospital with serious injuries after cops lock down Scots street

A man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after cops locked down a major street in Glasgow city centre this morning.

Emergency services descended on Union Street shortly before 11.30am today to reports of a person being attacked.

A 48-year-old man was found seriously injured on the street after being assaulted.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries.

The road, between Gordon Street and Argyle Street, remained closed to traffic and pedestrians for several hours as police investigated the incident.

Officers are not urging anyone with information on the incident to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Chris Curness said: “We are appealing for any witnesses and anyone with information to get in touch with officers to assist with our enquiries.

“Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 1210 of 30 June or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
