Man rushed to hospital with serious head injury after mass rammy in East Kilbride

A man has been seriously injured in East Kilbride sparking an investigation.

Police swarmed Telford Road after reports of a disturbance involving a 'group of people' early this morning.

A 58-year-old was then found with a serious head injury after an alleged assault at around 2.55am.

He was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.55am on Tuesday, 12 October, police were called to a report of a disturbance involving a group of people in Telford Road, East Kilbride.

“Emergency services attended and found a 58-year-old man had been seriously assaulted.

“He was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital where he is receiving treatment for a head injury.

“A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are continuing.”
