Man rushed to hospital with head injuries after fight breaks out in Baltic Triangle

A man was rushed to hospital with a head injury after a fight broke out at a venue in the Baltic Triangle.

Merseyside Police could not confirm which venue the incident took place in when asked by the ECHO.

However, a spokeswoman for the force was able to confirm officers were called to Stanhope Street which runs through the Cains Brewery site and is home to a number of venues.

The spokeswoman said officers received reports of 'an altercation ' at a venue.

A 29 year old man was taken to hospital with a head injury, the severity of which is unclear. However, his condition is not thought to be life threatening.

Merseyside Police confirmed a 32 year old man was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 Assault and taken into custody to be questioned.

Emergency services attended the scene at around 5.05pm after 'reports of a fight' on Stanhope Street after two men were reportedly involved in an altercation inside a venue.

Officers remain at the scene this evening while forensic enquires are carried out.

Detective Inspector Dave Jones said: "We're in the early stages of investigating this incident, and would appeal to anyone who was in the bar and saw what happened to get in touch with us as soon as they can.

"This must have been a shocking and unpleasant thing to happen while people are out enjoying themselves over the bank holiday.

"I'd like to reassure everyone that our officers are in the area and will be happy to talk through any concerns people may have."

Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 730 of 31/05.
