Man rushed to hospital after stabbing at South Shields nightclub

A man was rushed to hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning after a stabbing at a South Shields nightclub.

Emergency services rushed to Roxannes, on Ocean Road, at around 3.17am following reports of an assault.

A man was found at the nightclub with stab wounds to his arm and back.

Paramedics treated him at the scene before transporting him to South Tyneside District Hospital for further treatment.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We received a call at 3.17am on Sunday to an incident in the area of Ocean Road in South Shields.

"We responded to a report of a man who had been stabbed. We sent one ambulance and one Hazardous Area Response Team to the incident.

"One patient had suffered wounds to his arm and was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital for further treatment."

Police have now launched an investigation into the stabbing.

One man was arrested at the scene for a public order offence. He has since been released with no further action.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "We were called at 3.23am to an assault that took place at Roxannes nightclub in South Shields.

"An investigation is ongoing.

"One man was arrested at the scene for a public order offence. He has since been released with no further action."
