Man rushed to hospital after serious assault in Kilkenny as Gardai launch investigation

Gardaí in Kilkenny have launched an investigation after a man was rushed to hospital with head injuries following an assault this weekend.

The attack occurred at around 7:45 am on Sunday, and at this point, it is believed to have occurred on Lord Edward Street.

A man in his 30s was reportedly treated by paramedics after receiving “a number of lacerations to his head.”

Officers confirmed that his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

No arrests have been made at this time but investigations are ongoing.

A statement from An Garda Siochana read: “Gardaí in Kilkenny are investigating an assault that is believed to have occurred on Lord Edward Street, Kilkenny this morning, Sunday 30th January 2022 at approximately 7.45 am.

“A male, aged in his late 30s, received a number of lacerations to his head.

“He was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”
