Man rushed to hospital after being hit by car in Saltcoats

A man has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car this afternoon.

The pedestrian was hit just after 1pm at The Braes in Saltcoats with police confirming that emergency services are currently dealing with the incident.

The extent of the man's injuries are not known at this stage but police have confirmed that the person has been taken to Crosshouse Hospital.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 1.20pm on Thursday, April 29 police received a report of a person being struck by a car at Braes Road in Saltcoats. Emergency services are on the scene and currently dealing with the incident.

"The man has been taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital."
