A Reddit user in Dublin has expressed upset over a response to his add to rent a box room in the city in recent days as he decries the state of the rental market.
The man living in Dublin said he "couldn't believe" when he woke up a day after advertising what he describes as a "fairly s**te room" on Dat.ie for €700 a month.
In a post, he said: "The housemate is leaving so put his room up on Daft the other day. Fairly s**te room to be honest, very small but decent location in the city centre.

"Still it's essentially €700 for a box room which is shocking," he explained further. He said he was totally shocked to have received 300 emails in less than a day.
"Not views but emails," he reiterated.
"My heart broke when I saw the notifications."
The man said even a few days later he is still "a bit upset and disheartened over it."
"300 people in way under 24 hours fighting for a shitty room. A wide range of nationalities, ages and incomes desperate for a sh*t box of a room at a high price.
"It must be soul destroying for anyone looking for a place to live at the moment," he concluded.
Users were quick to echo his sentiments on the rental crisis and the situation thousands of would-be tenants find themselves in as they search for a roof over their heads.
One said: "Remember 2020 when we thought the pandemic would bring prices down and shift powers between tenant and landlord? We were so naive."
Another added: "I can afford to live in Ireland but I can't afford to live in Dublin or any other city in this country and the apparent rarity of remote work rules out everywhere else because I'm not moving to Leitrim unless working from home is full time and guaranteed."
In a heartbreaking comment, a third person wrote: "I gave up looking when I got back. €1,000 for a double room in a shared house in Blanchardstown, wtf, which had similar numbers applying. Now I'm saving to leave Ireland for the third time in the last decade."
This news comes just a week after footage and photos from a rental house viewing in Drumcondra went viral online. It showed hundreds of people lining up and waiting for over an hour to view the Dublin property, some not evening getting the chance to get inside.
The prospective tenants voiced their frustration at the current housing market as one woman described the situation as "scary".
A number of tweets from those in the queue blew up online, with many sharing their disbelief at the current state of the rental market.
Irish woman Chloe Burke, who was in the queue, told RSVP Live: "It's scary how hard it is to get a place. I started work up here in a fantastic firm as an accountant at the beginning of August and I'm looking everyday, and still nothing. It's shocking to be honest.
"We need help."
