Man questioned on suspicion of attempted murder after street shooting

A man has been questioned on suspicion of attempted murder after a shooting in L8.

A 47-year-old man was gunned down on Friday night in an attack that detectives believe was targeted.

The victim was taken to hospital where he received treatment for a gunshot wound to his leg.

Merseyside Police has confirmed a 38-year-old man has been questioned on suspicion of attempted murder in relation to the attack.

The suspect has been released on bail.

Emergency services had been called to Laxey Street, near to Park Road, just after 9pm on Friday amid reports of the shooting.

It was later established the attack took place on an area of grass close to The Globe pub on Park Road.

Detectives are appealing for anybody who may have witnessed the shooting, or anybody who was travelling along Park Road between 8.45pm and 9.15pm on Friday night and who may have dashcam footage, to contact them.
