Man outraged after being charged £36 for bottle of water and snacks at airport

A man has slammed a Las Vegas airport after being charged over the odds for a bottle of water and two snacks before boarding his plane. He explained how his "groceries" came to a "criminal" $43 (£36.37) despite trying to keep costs down by picking up the water, a packet of beef jerky and pistachio nuts.

When sharing a breakdown of his receipt, he said on Reddit: "I normally bring snacks and a water bottle. I was in a rush and was thankful to have the healthy snacks I wanted. The lady at the checkout literally said, 'Good morning sir - you've seen the prices on these items?'." According to his receipt, he paid $7.89 (£6.37) for the water bottle, $16.19 (£13.09) for the beef jerky and $18.99 (£15.35) for the pistachio nuts.

While most users shared their disgust over the airport's prices, others claimed he picked out some of the "most expensive" items in the shop.

One user said: "You can eat for a month with this money in some countries - this is insane."

Another user added: "Pistachios and beef jerky are the two all time most expensive snacks regardless of where you buy them."

A third user said: "Don't even bring money to the airport. Just starve till you get to your destination."

One more user added: "My flight back to the UK was delayed [and I] paid just shy of $17 (£13.74) on a plastic container sandwich and a Coke.

"I then realised there's a Panda Express near the smoking area - bad moves were made."

Shaming airports worldwide, another user said: "This price gouging at the airport or anywhere where they depend on your need to grab it quick with limited to no alternatives should be criminal."

It comes after a flight attendant complained he felt uncomfortable after seeing a woman breastfeeding on a plane.

Her husband explained how they were travelling from Miami to Atlanta when his wife was shamed for feeding their hungry baby.

Taking to social media, he said: "My wife [was told] to cover up while breastfeeding our infant on a flight because it made the flight attendant uncomfortable while he stood over our seat staring - in 2022."

While the man reminded the flight attendant that he could simply stop looking at his wife's breast, he instead decided to continue staring and blamed her for "pulling it out" for everyone to see.

The man added: "When I notified that he was welcome to not look at my wife's breast, he declared that she should not pull it out and that it was common courtesy.

"When my wife responded, 'My baby needs to eat', he said, 'Yeah', and walked away. She wasn't showing any more than someone in a bathing suit."
