Man on motorbike broke driver's jaw in violent road rage attack

A man had his jaw fractured after being attacked on East Prescot Road.

The victim was driving along the road, at around 12.40am on Sunday, September 18, when his left wing mirror was knocked off by a passing motorbike. He then pulled over outside a shop, near Back Dovecot Place, to try an fix the wing mirror.

It is reported that he was then attacked by the motorbike rider, as well as two other men who were stood outside the store. The victim was rushed to hospital after being hit to the head with a weapon.

He suffered a fractured jaw as well as other facial injuries and bruises to his body. Since the attack, Merseyside Police have carried out an extensive investigation in the area and analysed CCTV footage to identify anyone who could be responsible.

It was reported that the motorbike rider was wearing a helmet and the other two males were wearing balaclavas. Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said: "This was an unprovoked and violent attack that left a man with a fractured jaw. Violence like this will never be tolerated on the streets of Merseyside.

"While some weeks have passed since the incident on Sunday 18th September, we are still determined to find those responsible for this attack. If you were near the area at the time of the assault and have any dashcam or CCTV footage, we would like to hear from you as soon as possible.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information which could help us with our inquiries, is asked to DM @MerPolCC, message ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Facebook’ or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 with reference 22000695617."
