Man on mobility scooter taken to hospital after being knocked down by van

An elderly man was taken to hospital after being knocked off his mobility scooter by a van in Bolton.

The crash happened on Frederick Street in the Farnworth area at around 11.08am on Friday, November 25, police said. Officers were called to the scene after the smash between a white Ford Transit Connect van and a mobility scooter.

The man on the scooter - aged in his 70s - was rushed to hospital in a serious condition. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

Police have today (November 30) issued an appeal for any witnesses to come forward. They particularly want to speak to anyone who might have dash cam or CCTV footage.

A post on the GMP Bolton Facebook page said: "#APPEAL | Police appeal for information following a collision on Frederick Street in Bolton. At 11.08am on Friday (25 November 2022), police were called to a report of a collision involving a white Ford Transit Connect van and a man in his 70s who was on a mobility scooter.

"The collision took place on Frederick Street and the man riding the scooter was taken to hospital in a serious condition. No arrests have been made.

"Anyone who witnessed this incident, or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage is asked to contact GMPs Serious Collision Investigation Unit, on 0161 856 4741. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
