Man on bike injured after rush hour hit-and-run

A cyclist was hit and left on the street in a hit-and-run this morning.

Merseyside Police were called to a report of a crash on Sussex Road in Southport involving a cyclist and a grey Ford Kuga. The driver then drove off from the scene.

The cyclist is currently being treated at the scene by paramedics after he suffered injuries to his head and legs. Emergency services remain at the scene on the corner of Sussex Road and Larch Street.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "At around 9am this morning (Thursday 22 September) officers were called to a report of a collision on Sussex Road in Southport involving a cyclist and a grey Ford Kuga. The cyclist is being treated by paramedics at the scene after sustaining injuries to his head and legs.

"The driver of the Ford Kuga drove away from the incident. Emergency services are currently at the scene whilst enquiries are ongoing in the area."
