A man nearly died when he was struck on the head by a radiator after it was thrown out of a window.

Andy Willox was walking home in Hammersmith, London, when someone threw the cast iron radiator out of the window.

The 32-year-old told The Daily Telegraph: “You imagine bad things can happen, like getting in a car accident, or dangerous sports – but I never thought I’d be injured by someone throwing a radiator out of a window.

“When the police arrived and saw how much blood there was the policewoman said to me she thought I wouldn’t survive. I do keep thinking how much worse it could have been.

The ordeal left him with 48 stitches in his head and a fractured neck.

The radiator is believed to have been thrown from a residential building run by a charity that supports people with special needs and learning disabilities.

Mr Willox added: “This could have killed me, and I don’t want anyone else to have to go through this.

“There was a little girl walking behind me, just imagine if it had hit her.”
