NEW YORK_One man is dead in the blaze that broke out at Trump Tower this evening, according to a law enforcement source.
The FDNY arrived at the Fifth Ave. high rise just before 6 p.m.
Twitter users posted pictures of flames shooting out of windows on the 50th floor.
President Donald Trump took to Twitter with an update that said, "Fire at Trump Tower is out. Very confined (well built building). Firemen (and women) did a great job. THANK YOU!"
"The entire apartment was on fire," said FDNY Fire Commissioner Dan Nigro at a news conference on the scene.
"The fire was a difficult fire. The apartment was quite large and 50 stories up," he said. According to Nigro, 200 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the scene. Firefighters _ along with secret service _ went to check on the president's apartment in the building.
Four firefighters suffered minor injuries in the blaze, the commissioner said.
The building houses apartments and office space.
Two people were injured in a blaze at the president's flagship property on Jan. 8.
