- Jamie Muir sexually assaulted two women on a crowded train travelling from Inverkeithing to Edinburgh on November 16 last year.
- The 33-year-old used the busy conditions, caused by a rugby match, to disguise his "opportunistic" actions shortly after boarding the train.
- One of the victims confronted Muir, who then apologised and claimed confusion, leading other passengers to intervene and encourage him to disembark at North Queensferry.
- The women reported the incident to British Transport Police (BTP) at Edinburgh Waverley, leading to Muir's identification, arrest, and subsequent guilty plea.
- At Dunfermline Sheriff Court on April 29, Muir, from Dunfermline, was sentenced to nine months in prison and placed on the sex offender register for a decade.
