Man jailed for attempting to murder wife by pouring hot oil on her head

  • Raju Mollah, 50, has been sentenced to 26 years in prison for attempting to murder his wife in Birmingham.
  • Mollah attacked his wife by pouring hot oil over her head and repeatedly striking her with a frying pan after asking her to make him an omelette.
  • The victim suffered severe burns, a minor bleed to the brain, missing teeth, facial and head wounds, and singed hair.
  • Mollah initially claimed his wife had fallen or that he was acting in self-defence, but a jury at Birmingham Crown Court convicted him of attempted murder.
  • An indefinite restraining order was also imposed on Mollah following his conviction for the vicious and sustained assault.
