Man jailed after assaulting QMC nurse and police officer

A man has been jailed after he assaulted a nurse at the Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) and a police officer - leaving them both injured.

Paul Wells, 35, of no fixed address, carried out both attacks on Saturday, August 17.

Both victims were left with minor injuries and Wells has now been sentenced to five months in prison.

He received his punishment when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court two days after the attacks on Monday, August 19.

Sergeant Nick Wood, from Nottinghamshire Police’s Prisoner Handling Team, said: "Emergency workers deserve to do their jobs without fear of violence from those they are trying to help.

"I’m pleased that this outcome shows there are serious consequences for these types of assaults."
