Man in critical condition following serious assault in Birchgrove, Swansea

A man is in a critical condition in hospital following a serious assault which happened on New Year's Day.

A 50-year-old was taken to hospital with a serious head injury after the assault which took place near the rugby club in Birchgrove, Swansea at about 10.50pm on Wednesday, January 1.

He remains in hospital in a critical condition. South Wales Police are appealing for information about the incident.

Officers from South Wales Police remain at the scene as investigations continue to be carried out.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: "We are appealing for information after a serious assault in Birchgrove, Swansea last night.

"Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800555111 quoting occurrence 2000001251."
