Man in agony and rushed to hospital as knife punctures his bottom

A man was rushed to hospital after he was stabbed in the buttocks during a mindless attack.

The 27-year-old man was targeted by a knife fiend in Birch Way, Renfrew on Monday evening, cops revealed.

It is understood the stricken victim suffered a puncture wound to his backside during the onslaught, which happened around 7.40pm.

He was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he received treatment and was later released.

Officers were last night investigating possible motives for the senseless assault as they reviewed CCTV and carried out door to door enquiries in the area.

Detectives probing the violent assault urged members of the public to come forward with information.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross, from Paisley CID, is leading the investigation.

He said: “Detectives are investigating after a 27-year-old man was seriously assaulted in Birch Way, Renfrew on Monday at around 7.40pm.

“He sustained a stab wound to the lower body during a disturbance involving another male.”

He added: “This was a senseless attack which happened in a residential street.

“This kind of incident has no place in our community and we are working to identify the suspect.

“We would urge any members of the public who witnessed what happened to get in touch.

“If you have private  CCTV which may cover the street, we would also like to hear from you.

“If you have any information, please get in touch.”

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged robbery in Renfrew.

It is claimed he stole personal possessions from a 28-year-old man in the town’s Renfield Street  around 5.30pm on Monday.

The suspect is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court in connection with the incident at a later date.
