Man in his 40s dies after police and paramedics called to park
A man has died after suffering a medical episode in Newsham Park on Monday morning.
Emergency services rushed to Newsham Park in Old Swan after they received a report a man had suffered a medical episode in the park. Officers from Merseyside Police and staff from North West Ambulance Service attended the park at around 8.20am.
The man, in his 40s, was taken to hospital but officers later confirmed he had died.

Two men bitten by police dog as fights break out after Liverpool and Everton match
Two men were bitten by a police dog amid reports of disturbances after the Merseyside Derby match yesterday (Sunday).
Dog patrols were deployed to the area after reports of a fight in progress in Stanley Park as fans left the stadium. A Merseyside police spokesperson said: "The men refused hospital treatment and engaged with officers before leaving the park."
Groups were also reported to be fighting and throwing chairs after yesterday's match. Officers were called to reports of disorder outside the Hotel Tia on Anfield Road, Anfield, following the Liverpool/Everton match, which Liverpool won 2-0.
'My best friend posed as my crush to con me out of £117,000'
A nurse, conned by her best friend out of £117,000, said she felt 'sick as each piece of the jigsaw fell into place'.
Anna Bonner asked her chief bridesmaid, Susan Hughes, for huge sums of money to pay for a sick friend’s treatment – but she was in fact spending it all on herself. Mum-of-three Bonner, 40, knew that Susan had a crush on the friend and was hoping for a relationship with him, and played on her affections to con her out of cash, gifts and personal letters.
Earlier this month a judge at Liverpool Crown Court labelled Bonner “greedy, devious and manipulative” after she pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation. She was jailed for 28 months. Susan, a psychiatric nurse, said: “I have a soft heart, I like looking after people, and Anna took advantage of that. She manipulated me and took me for every penny I had.
