A man in Luncarty was furious when Bonfire Night pranksters lit a firework on top of his car.
William Miller, who has lived in the normally peaceful village of Luncarty for 18 years, said his car was parked outside his daughter Jordan’s house at The Scarth, five minutes drive from his home in Tay Park Road, on Saturday, November 6.
William (65), a semi-retired window cleaner, had lent it to her but when he came to collect it on Sunday morning he found the windscreen cracked and dozens of burn marks all over the roof where a lit fountain firework had been placed overnight.
“The air turned blue when I saw my car,” William told the PA.
“I need the car for my work but it can’t be driven until the windshield is replaced.”
Sparks from the firework burned the Honda CRV’s paintwork.
William reckons it will be “very costly” to put the car right.
His daughter Jordan was out at the Luncarty Club on Saturday night between 8pm and 9.30pm when the damage to the car happened, but her neighbour heard the noise.
She said: “It’s usually very quiet in the village. But the night before, the Friday, someone else in Luncarty had trouble with fireworks aimed at their house.
“We are hoping the police catch whoever has done this.
“I honestly have no idea why they would do this to my dad’s car.”
Another Luncarty resident complained of disruptions at the weekend: “They were pointing fireworks down over Marshall Way and exploding over my house.
“Who would entrust gunpowder to an untrained person to scare the neighbourhood out of their boots?”
