A man was hit by a car before being rushed to hospital in a serious crash in Norris Green.
Emergency services were called to large road closure shortly before 7pm to reports of the collision involving a car and a pedesrian.
The man was reportedly crossing the road between Norwyn Road and Sedgemoor Road when he was knocked down by a Citroen C3 and seriously injured.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene as police and paramedics rushed to the area.
A Merseyside Police cordon, was put in place on Townsend Avenue between the two junctions.
According to Merseyside Police, the man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries but his condition is not yet known.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the force said: "We can confirm that emergency services are in Norris Green this evening (Tuesday 18 May) following a serious road traffic collision.
"At around 6.55pm, police and the ambulance service were called to Townsend Lane to reports of a collision between a Citroen C3 and a male pedestrian.
"The pedestrian was taken to hospital for assessment of his injuries and enquiries are ongoing at the scene.
"The driver of the car stopped at the scene.
"Road closures are in place from the junction of Sedgemoor Road/Townsend Avenue and Townsend Avenue/Norwyn Road. Please avoid the area. "
