AHMEDABAD: Ramol police arrested 26-year-old Ashwin Lamkheda, who was wanted for murdering two of his friends. The youths were labourers in the day and at night engaged in petty crime.
Ramol police inspector C R Rana said there had been a long-standing dispute between Kalpesh Hegde (23) and Lamkheda. During his interrogation, Lamkheda said that they had a fight on the day of the fight and Hegde had been abusive about Lamkheda’s parents, after which he killed him.
The second murder also took place that morning.
Ramol police said on Thursday they received a message that Hegde had been murdered at his house. He had been struck with a stone and a bladed weapon, in the wee hours of Thursday.
Lamkheda was arrested on Friday. During his interrogation, he admitted to having murdered another friend, Ranjit Gautam.
Police said that at about 5am, Lamkheda and Gautam were at a farm in the area. He asked Gautam why he had informed Hegde that Lamkheda intended to murder him. This led to an argument, after which Lamkheda stabbed Gautam to death.
